This product concept is a smartwatch which also stores energy and can act as a Qi induction charger for other mobile devices, either directly or via a removable charging fob. Our client had knowledge about the required electronics, and clear ideas about the looks and functions to be embodied in the digital model, which helped guide our work. The trickiest part of this design was fitting the desired features and necessary electronics into a limited space, and generating a novel, recognizable design in this saturated and very familiar product area was also a challenge. This project was completed several years ago, and the fob shows a USB-A type connector; today, we would specify a smaller, micro-USB connector, and take advantage of miniaturization and new developments in the control electronics.
